AAF: Legal Quaterback Hits, Video Review Transparency, Former College Stars Looking for a 2nd Chance, I'm IN!

The Alliance of American Football (AAF) had their debut last night, I just have to say wow. The system that the AAF is using is genius. Using former, local, college football stars just a few miles away from where they were campus heroes. This being a way for them to build loyal fan bases from the start. For example, Alabama campus legend Trent Richardson will be playing pro ball in Birmingham, just under an hour away from Alabama's campus in Tuscaloosa. I'm sure plenty of Bama and Auburn fans will attend the inaugural Birmingham Iron game today.

Another SEC campus legend has signed with the AAF, The Head Ball Coach, Steve Spurrier. The 73-year old Spurrier has been out of coaching for almost four years, since he retired from South Carolina. Spurrier not only started his campaign with an impressive 40-6 win over the Atlanta Legends, but was also a viral hit with them gem of a sideline quote...….

This is another aspect of the AAF that I love so much, the access. Viewers are able to play calls from the sidelines, live conversations between players and coaches, and maybe the best access of all, the video review official. The AAF has video and audio on the replay official in the booth. This gives the viewer access to why a call was confirmed or overturned, something the NFL should of implemented years ago, rather than have two or three guys speculating on what they think happened. This clip is an example of that replay official access from last nights game between San Diego and San Antonio.

And possibly the best part of the AAF's debut were the quarterback hits. Both of these plays went viral because THEY GAVE THE FANS A SENSE OF WHAT FOOTBALL USED TO BE!!

If you don't block an edge rusher BOOM!!! Your quarterback gets his head taken off.

And if your quarterback tries to extend the play, and it looks like there's a chance he takes off running, BOOM!!!! He gets hit with a Goldberg spear.

Overall, I don't think the AAF executives could've have asked for a better opening night. A TV deal with CBS and ratings that blew ABC's national broadcast of an NBA game out of the water. Football is still king, and the Alliance proved that last night. I cant wait to see what happens next.
